Nura Sushi & Island Grill: A Must-Try Sushi Bar in Pacific Grove, CA

I think this was the best sushi place I've been to. My girlfriend and I came here on a camping trip for dinner around 6pm. There were a couple people in there and plenty of open seats. The hostess was really kind and sat us at our table. We both got the lighthouse roll which is a little pricy at $24 but it's worth it for how much food and how good the roll really was. It has crab shrimp tempura spicy tuna and huge pieces of salmon on top with avocado and other fillings and sauces. All the fish was super fresh. It was the best roll we both have ever had and worth every penny. They also gave us free miso soup and even filled up our water jugs for camping. Super nice people and super good sushi in a great spot in town. We will be back next time we're in Monterey!

The food was so wonderful and the staff was so friendly. None of us had been here before but we'll definitely come back! Made for a special birthday :)

Decent sushi if you're in town. Fish is fresh, rolls are ginormous. We had our two grown sons with us so they didn't break the bank as they devoured the rolls. We had the volcano spider, firecracker, Ohio, lovers point, and dynamite rolls. Ohio was our favorite. One son ordered miso soup as well and I would recommend passing on this. Watery and not much flavor. I'm half Japanese and pretty picky on Japanese restaurants. My biggest constructive thought is that they put too much sauce on the rolls--so we'll ask for less next time. Stellar sushi rolls should let the freshest of ingredients shine as well as flavoring their sushi rice. Owner came over and introduced himself and asked for feedback which is very nice. Son just moved to town so we will be back.

Stopped in for Christmas dinner and was not disappointed! We ordered the premium sashimi platter, the beef udon, and the miso soup! Everything was excellent, and our waiter was very kind and accommodating during the whole meal. Great ambience and excellent preparation of sashimi!

Started a little 3 day getaway with the family and the Mrs gave me 3 choices to pick for dinner. Knowing full well why Nura was on the list. We love us some sushi. Nura's ambiance was peaceful and cute. The staff was outstanding. Not once did my water run dry. Not once did I have to wait till they decided to come back by. They were very good at reading the customers. The sushi rolls were on point with taste and presentation. Definitely some of the best sushi we've ever had and we've had a lot over the last almost 20 years together. Here are some pictures of what we had. Highly recommend Nura if you happen to be in the area! Thank you to all the staff for making our first nights dinner top notch. You've set the bar high for all other restaurants in the Monterey area for us.

Phenomenal composition and the freshest ingredients await at Nura Sushi. Stopped in and had the Nura special role and the spicy tuna maki hand roll. Both rolls were among the best and freshest sushi that I've found anywhere and could hold their own in any big city. Service was very attentive and personable. Selection of really nice wines if you're into that, I noticed some Daou bottles and other refined libations. The freshest fish not overdone and ingredient forward cuisine is what you'll find here at Nura. The chef's kind and passionate demeanor was also evident from our conversation, and he graciously welcomed me back. Next time I'll bring friends as this is definitely a place for sharing and laughter. Simple yet inviting decor ensures that your meal will be framed in an environment that is similar to the food offerings; complex yet un-pretentious. Nura offers some of the best sushi around anywhere!

Food Is Really Tasty ordered Spam Musubi and Beef Bulgogi to go , since we going on a road trip. service is great and friendly it was busy ,but overall didnt wait that long (20-25mins to go order) the menu is a bit pricey esp the spam musubi, wish they give 2 scoop of rice instead of one. but the food is extremely delicious. A Must Try
